Toora Loora, and quilt backings galore

I’ve spent most of the week prepping backings for 9 quilt tops. What I thought should take a few hours instead took a few days. Digging through not-quite-chaotic shelves of fabrics, pressing 40 or so yards of fabric, then piecing the backings…I am a super slow quilter, people. While a few of these backings were each made from one length of fabric, others had to be pieced from multiple fabrics. I am just not great at remembering to buy 4-5 yard lengths to have on hand for backings. A couple had to be pieced to include leftover blocks, because I try not to collect orphan blocks. I really like pieced backings, but they always take so much longer than I expect them to. Anyway, once I get these 9 quilts basted/quilted/bound, that will cut my UFO list nearly by half.

Of course, I failed to get any interesting pics of the backing assembly line. Instead I give you a pic of my latest published quilt, Toora Loora, from Quick & Easy Quilts, Summer 2025 issue! The professional pics the magazine sent me are, of course, much better, so once I figure out how to include those I will edit this post or write another.
